If Tripwire, Valve, or other developers want to reduce the number of cheaters, they have to do it themselves. Note that it's “reduce” and not “eliminate.” Like Newell, Gibson knows that this isn't a battle he can finish. “It's like the Wild West,” he said. “It's more about managing the risk and hacks without inconveniencing your legitimate players too much.”Speedrunners ESL presence will use the ranked system's rules, meaning official maps, lethal spikes and all weapons enabled. The first cup will be hosted on Saturday, August 1 at 8pm CEST for European players, and on August 8 for North American players. Between that, during Gamescom, an official SpeedRunners Tournament will be livestreamed from the Twitch stage. Prizes include a custom ESL trail for the winning player. This is a guest contribution by Luke Cotton, Esports Specialist at Digital Fuel Marketing and founder of CSGO Betting. If you would like to submit a contribution please contact Bill Beatty for submission details. Thank you. Before we tackled building a new map, we set about modernizing Cache. Cache has since been featured in two of CS:GO's Operation map-promotions, included in many of the game's most prestigious tournaments, and is played by thousands of players for more than 11,000 hours every day.

Some examples included the Samsung M3 2TB external HDD for £65, the Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD for £260 and the Creative Fatal1ty HS-800 headset for £20.The teams were divined in to two groups, each one consisting of four teams. The structure of the competition was set to the traditional best-of-one double elimination format for the group stage and best-of-three single elimination for the playoffs, including the grand final, and using the default competitive map pool.I want to see the CS:GO community grow, but I bemoan that the game I play most going on sale will probably mean that I'll encounter a few more cheaters and rank-dodging players in the next month or two. To give Valve credit, this isn't the cheapest we've seen CS:GO. In December, January, and March (the latter coinciding with the EMS One Katowice tournament in Poland), the game was slashed by 75% to just $3.74. The 50% cut over the next two days may be a small compromise, but I don't doubt that it'll invite more players to circumvent matchmaking and play illegitimately.E-sports has provided no shortage of controversy of late, most notably with CS:GO's match-fixing scandals and one League of Legends tournament's bizarre attempt at equality. League of Legends pro team Meet Your Makers is now under the spotlight, thanks to the revelations of LCS player Marcin "Kori" Wolski—who recently returned to the team after a mysterious two-week departure.

Mortal Kombat X moves the timeline forward 25 years, giving the game the opportunity to show older versions of existing fighters as well as some of their kids. This translates into 24 playable characters, with a decent split between existing combatants and new ones. Returning characters include Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Kenshi, a gray-haired Liu Kang, Raiden, and more. Eight characters are new, with four falling on the bad guy end of the spectrum and four humans that descend from "old" fighters. Those four also figure heavily into the game's storyline as Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, teams up with Jax's daughter Jacqui, Kenshi's son Takeda, and a descendant of Kung Lao named Kung Jin to basically save all the realms from Mortal Kombat 4's end boss, Shinnok, and his right-hand man, Quan ChiThe story mode uses the same structure as Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice: Gods Among Us, slotting characters into chapters and having you go through a few fights with them before moving on. It's a decent way to get exposed to the different characters, but the story itself is all over the place. It starts a couple of years after the events of the previous game, then jumps ahead 25 years, but then a lot of the characters keep having flashbacks to events that happened five years before that. Some of the old fighters (including some who, annoyingly, aren't playable here) have become evil "revenants" that fight alongside Quan Chi, and keeping track of who is on what side in each part of the timeline is a chore. It all wraps up a little too quickly, too, with the four Kombat Kidz traipsing into just the right place at just the right time a few too many times for my tastes. On top of that, while the game still impressively transitions into and out of fights and its nice-looking cutscenes, a handful of Quick Time Events have been added to the proceedings, distracting from the storytelling a bit as you stare near the bottom of the screen just in case this cutscene happens to be one that contains a few lame button presses. While the lead characters, their backgrounds, and their motivations are far, far better here than they were in the games that came after Mortal Kombat 3 in the pre-reboot timeline, I still found the story to be a little disappointing, overall. The action in MKX builds off of the systems and mechanics of both the previous game and, to some extent, Injustice: Gods Among Us. The buttons, basic fighting, and concepts of a three-part super meter, combo breakers, X-rays, and EX versions of special moves are all pretty much intact, though now you can EX your throws, which cancels the throw and leaves the enemy standing there, ready for another set of attacks as long as you're quick about it. You can also execute a block breaker, which works similarly to the combo breakers but pushes an enemy back while you're blocking instead of when you're taking hits. The fighting feels faster and more fluid than the previous game, but some of the more basic juggle combos feel like they're a little easier to land, too. Steamanalyst nutzen – Items, Skins Keys für Counterstrike-Global Offensive kaufenWhen people talk about PC gaming today, they’re talking about Steam. With over 125 million registered users, Steam is by far the biggest gaming community and storefront in the PC gaming world. eSports games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are played exclusively through Steam for prizes worth millions of dollars. He’s of the opinion that Valve’s direct support of the game as an esport has made all the difference. “For years Valve did not care at all, because it was a mod of their game, and even when they bought it and made Source, they didn’t really care,” Smith says. “It took forever to get things patched - it was community driven. It was fine, it thrived without them, but to have developer support of your game - especially an esport - is an incredible added bonus, especially nowadays.”In August of 2012 the next-generation of Counter-Strike released under the name Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. For veterans of the franchise, it offered a graceful presentation that would make it an attractive alternative for those feeling fatigue from the aging visuals of Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source. To new players, it presented something that lacked the welcoming learning curve, well-tuned modes of play, and addictive leveling systems that have become standard across most modern shooters.

Regardless, despite Valve’s one-false-move-and-your-career-gets-blown-to-smithereens ultimatum, I doubt this is the last we’ll hear about match fixing and CSGO. As long as people and organizations stand to benefit from it, certain folks will keep trying. Here’s hoping players find the courage to do the right thing and speak up.You could argue that microtransactions are what saved Counter-Strike: Global Offensive from being doomed to an average-sized community. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the system is great.

Most recently, the game has gone several months without a major update, resulting in the longest lapse between two campaigns that the game has ever seen. The reason for this has become clear in recent communication by a member of the CS: GO development team.Exactly how it's getting done is up for debate - as you'd expect there's a lot of speculation. We shan't add to that here, so suffice it to say that the conspiracy theorists are already out in force. As Counter-Strike: Global Offensive updates go, the latest adding much nicer hands isn't the largest. It hit yesterday, updating from lower poly and less detailed models to nice fancy new ones with sexy knobbly bits on the gloves. Very fancy. The announcement post also confirmed that CS:GO was hitting 10 million unique users a month currently, a tremendous figure if you consider the fact that CSGO ain't free (though has been very cheap several times). Meanwhile on the pro scene, orphaned Team Question Mark, previously of Team Solo-Mid before an unamicable split late last year, have signed with a new sponsor.the patch also introduces a few changes in terms of gameplay, as two of the most popular pistols have seen some drastic tweaks. The P250 now comes with just three ammo magazines, instead of the original five, while the CZ75-Auto nerf seen in the last major update has been reverted in terms of ammo and fire rate. As such, the pistol has 12 rounds in a mag and comes with two of them. The ESL One Cologne tournament will take place at the 20,000-seat Lanxess Arena in Cologne on August 22-23. Tickets to the event will go on sale on February 23. Every Monday in Shooterology , Evan writes about FPSes.An awful lot of questions remain unanswered, including how the new league would handle Valve-imposed bans on players involved in the recent match-fixing scandal. It's not yet a done deal, and the report says other CS:GO organizations are trying to reach Valve, which is apparently in the midst of its annual employee holiday in Hawaii, in hopes that it will intervene. If they can't, or if Valve decides to stay hands-off, it will mean some very big changes to the pro CS:GO scene. It all began with the rise of Dota 2 when cosmetic items (items which change the appearance of your character) burst into the Dota 2 scene. Not long after Dota2Lounge was born with the premise of creating a comfortable platform for trading your cosmetic items. These cosmetic items, with their variety of rarities, also had a monetary value. This is where the cosmetic skin betting began. Dota2Lounge released their cosmetic skin betting platform soon after , which allowed gamers to place a set amount of skins (four in total) on either team in a matchup.

It was only three weeks ago when Peter Souvlis, one of the more veteran players in the Australian CS:GO scene, was streaming and playing matchmaking games with viewers. Souvlis has been doing this for a fair while, so it’s wasn’t too unusual for him to get messaged by strangers.

Valve made the announcement official heading into the weekend, and it's causing quite a few Counter-Strike fans to call foul. As Valve states in the announcement, however, they gave players plenty of warning before finally taking action.
